Beastkin

Beastkin are humanoid creatures with strong animalistic traits—fur, claws, snouts, tails, or other bestial features. Some call them the remnants of a forgotten pact with nature; others believe they were cursed or crafted long ago. Whatever their origin, Beastkin walk a line between civilization and instinct.

🌍 Lore

Beastkin are scattered across the world, often in isolated communities or nomadic clans. They have no unified culture, as each sub-group takes on traits and traditions from the animal they resemble. A lupine Beastkin may value loyalty and hierarchy, while a feline one might prize independence and stealth.

Though some societies treat them with suspicion or reverence, most Beastkin learn to navigate the world with cautious pride. Their animal natures are not just cosmetic—they feel them in their bones, instincts, and tempers.

⚔️ Racial Traits

Advantages:

  • +1 Passive Awareness
  • You may call “Heightened Sense” once every 5 minutes to identify a single smell or sound nearby (roleplay-based, not mechanical)
  • +1 to all Foraging attempts in natural environments

Disadvantages:

  • You must roleplay animalistic behaviors appropriate to your form (e.g., sniffing, growling, grooming, pouncing, territoriality)
  • Cannot become full Mages (you may not take the Mage class)

🎭 Roleplay Notes

  • Pick a specific animal type and build your Beastkin’s habits, instincts, and appearance around it.
  • You are not a were-creature. Your features are permanent and biological.
  • Many Beastkin are wary of large cities or institutions, preferring wild places or tight-knit groups.
  • Animalistic urges may influence your actions—chase things, mark territory, seek packs, or flee danger.

🎨 Costuming Requirements

  • You must have at least two visible animal traits, such as:
    1. Ears
    2. Tail
    3. Snout prosthetic
    4. Furred gloves or paws
    5. Animal-like makeup or markings
  • Traits should be clearly visible during daylight.
  • Thematic colors, fur patterns, and garb are encouraged to match your chosen animal.

  • Players who love physical or expressive roleplay
  • Nature-focused characters
  • Herbalists, rangers, scouts, and alchemists
  • Characters torn between instinct and society

🧭 Tips for Playing a Beastkin

  • Use your “Heightened Sense” ability for creative investigation and flavor.
  • Let your animal nature inform how you fight, communicate, or react to threats.
  • Beastkin thrive in survival situations and are often underestimated by more “civilized” races.

Play a Beastkin if you want to howl, stalk, forage, and fight with the soul of a predator.
