How Leveling Works
Leveling in Volaire is based on XP accumulation and reflects your character's overall progression. You gain XP by attending events, completing plot objectives, crafting, contributing to the game world, and submitting post-event updates.
π How to Calculate Your Level
Your character level is determined by:
Total Earned XP Γ· 100 (rounded down)
XP Range | Level |
---|---|
500β599 | 5 |
600β699 | 6 |
700β799 | 7 |
β¦ | β¦ |
All new characters start at Level 5 (500 XP).
π§Ύ How XP is Earned
Source | XP Awarded |
---|---|
Attending a Full Event | 80 XP (Levels 5β15) |
50 XP (Levels 16β25) | |
30 XP (Levels 26+) | |
Plot/Roleplay Bonuses | +10 to +50 XP per event |
Crafting or Submissions | Variable, based on effort |
Backstory Submission | Up to 100 XP (one-time reward) |
Post-Event Report (PER) | +5 XP if submitted on time |
You must sign in and submit required check-in materials to receive full XP.
π° Banking XP
You may choose to bank XP at any time. Banked XP can be saved and spent later when:
- You gain access to a new teacher
- A new skill unlocks
- You change your progression strategy
To bank XP, indicate this in your check-in envelope or on your PER.
π Teacher Cards & Learning
Many skills require a Teacher Card showing in-play instruction by a qualified character or NPC.
- Skills with prerequisites require teaching, unless waived by Logistics or Plot
- Players caught using skills without proper instruction may lose access until re-taught
If you're unsure if you qualify to buy a skill, ask Logistics before the event.
π Skill Caps & Restrictions
- Some skills have per-level limits (e.g., βonce every 5 levelsβ)
- Others may be race-restricted or class-specific
- Always refer to your race/class page before purchasing
