Status Effects


Status effects are conditions that apply to a character when specific taglines are used during combat or spellcasting. These effects only apply if the damage bypasses all armor and reaches your Health Points.

If you're ever unsure what a tagline does, stop and ask out-of-play (OOP) for clarification.


🎯 When Do Status Effects Apply?

Status effects are not applied unless the damage hits your Health Points. If you're still protected by:

…you do not suffer the effect—even if you hear a status tagline like “10 Paralyze”.

Example: Joe has 30 physical armor and a 20-point magical protection aura. A ghoul calls “10 Paralyze!” Joe can take five hits before the Paralyze effect applies.

Here are some of the most common effects you'll encounter in-game:

• MASSIVE Cannot be blocked by weapons or shields. Damage still applies even if parried or deflected. Can be dodged.

• SLEEP You fall into a trance-like sleep for 10 minutes. You:

“Shaking one… shaking two…”

• PARALYZE You are completely frozen for 10 minutes. You:

• POISON Lasts 10 minutes. You are violently ill. You:

• LIFE DRAIN You are left weak and drained. You:

• PHYSICAL WEB You are stuck in place:

“Cutting out one… cutting out two…”

• BIND Your arms are stuck to your sides. You:

• AGONY Usually caused by gas. You:
